Headmaster — Guardian of Thornfield
Age
~80 (yet remarkably sprightly for his age)
Appearance
Tall, white-haired man with a long silver beard, in a deep-blue robe. His eyes sparkle vividly. He always carries a box of sweets.
Personality
Wise, warm-hearted, but deeply mysterious. He seems to always know everything. He treats students kindly, but sometimes says things that only make sense months later.

Professor Edmund Fairfax
Incantations & Charmwork
The theory and practice of spells: wand movements, incantations, intent-focusing.
Tall, lean, greying temples, always in an immaculate tweed jacket. Wears round spectacles and always tucks his wand behind his ear like a pencil.
Personality
Pedantic and precise, but secretly very kind. He loves the etymology of spells and can analyse a single wand movement for 20 minutes. Sometimes absent-minded. Loves tea and biscuits.

Professor Morgana Blackwood
Alchemy & Potioncraft
Brewing magical concoctions, alchemical principles, transmutation.
Dark-haired, sharp-featured woman, always in a black velvet robe. Her fingers always carry some potion stain. Cold, piercing gaze.
Personality
Strict, dry, speaks minimally, but brilliant. She tolerates no sloppiness and will deduct 5 house points in an instant for a bad potion. In rare moments, however, she shows she cares about her students.

Defence Against Dark Sorcery
Understanding dark magic and defending against it.
Attractive, athletic man with short dark hair and a prominent scar (left eyebrow to cheekbone). Wears a leather jacket instead of traditional robes.
Personality
Charismatic, somewhat mysterious, with an unconventional teaching method — he prefers practical demonstrations to lectures. Students adore him. Has a dark past he doesn't discuss.

Professor Beatrice Wyndham
Transfiguration & Metamorphics
Magically changing the form of objects and beings.
Elegant, elderly lady, always in an emerald-green robe, silver hair in a perfect bun. Wears pince-nez, and a silver cat brooch adorns her collar (which sometimes moves).
Personality
Exceptionally intelligent, slightly fearsome authority, but deeply fair. She expects perfection but is patient with those who try hard. Has dry British humour.
Professor Barnaby Thicket
Herbology & Magical Creatures
Knowledge, care, and use of magical plants and creatures.
Stocky, friendly, his hands always dirty from gardening. Wears a straw hat, and a plant or small creature always pokes out of his pockets.
Personality
Cheerful, enthusiastic, loves nature. Talks to plants as if they were people. Sometimes dangerously underestimates the danger of magical creatures.

Professor Celestine Harrow
Astral Magic & Divination
Stars, planets, tarot, tea-leaf reading, future sight.
Tiny, frail old woman with enormous round spectacles that magnify her eyes. Wears many silk scarves and pearls, and incense always burns in her tower classroom.
Personality
Mystical, slightly dramatic, sometimes utters completely incomprehensible prophecies that later prove true. Half the students adore her, the other half think she's a charlatan. She doesn't mind.
Professor Oswald Grimshaw
Runecraft & Enchantment
Drawing magical symbols, crafting and enchanting magical objects.
Short, broad-shouldered, bald man with a thick moustache. His hands are covered with old burn marks from runecraft. Always wears a leather apron over his robes.
Personality
Gruff, taciturn, but unmatched in his craft. When someone shows talent his eyes light up, and he flashes a rare, genuine smile.

History of the magical world, its legal system, rules for coexistence with non-magical folk.
Tiny, very old man who always falls asleep mid-lecture, but revives instantly when asked a question and answers with astonishing detail. Crumpled robes, thick spectacles.
Personality
Absent-minded, sleepy, but encyclopaedic knowledge. Students generally find his lessons dull, but those who pay attention hear incredible stories. Has a surprising dark humour.
