Game Rules and Code of Conduct

1. Age Requirement and Registration

1.1 Age requirement

Thornfield Academy is exclusively available to users who are 18 years of age or older . By registering you declare that you have reached the age of 18. If it is found that a user is under 18, their account will be deleted immediately and permanently.

1.2 One user — one account

Every user may create a single account . The use of multiple accounts (multi-account) is prohibited. If a person registers more than one account, all of their accounts may be banned.

1.3 Registration data

You must provide a real, working email address. Registering with false information may result in account suspension. Your email address is used solely for account recovery and important notifications.

1.4 Profile picture

You may upload a profile picture for your character. We recommend creating an avatar with AI assistance (e.g. Gemini, ChatGPT) so the image fits the game's British magical school style. The profile picture must be appropriate to the theme and must not contain inappropriate or copyright-infringing material.

2. Character Name Rules

2.1 Language requirement

The character name must be an English-language, fictional name that fits the game's British magical school theme. Examples of valid names: Elara Voss, Jasper Hale, Rowan Blackwood, Ivy Thornton.

2.2 Forbidden names

• Names of real people (celebrities, politicians, athletes, etc.)
• Names from other intellectual properties (e.g. Harry Potter, Gandalf, Dumbledore)
• Obscene, offensive, racist, or sexual names
• Meaningless character strings (e.g. "asdfjkl", "xxxxx", "12345")
• Hungarian or other non-English language names
• Names impersonating moderators or admins (e.g. "Admin_Thornfield")

Names that do not comply with the rules may be changed by moderators without prior warning, or users may be asked to change their name.

3. Code of Conduct

3.1 Respectful communication

In all communication channels of the game (common rooms, castle grounds, classrooms, private messages) respectful and friendly communication must be maintained. This is a community roleplay — treat your fellow students as you would like to be treated.

3.2 Strictly forbidden

• Swearing and offensive language — including censored forms (e.g. "f*ck", "b@stard")
• Trolling — deliberate provocation, disruption, spamming nonsense
• Harassment — repeated, unwanted messages, threats, intimidation
• Hate speech — statements against any race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability
• Sexual content — including sexual innuendo, flirting, and NSFW content
• Sharing personal data — do not share your own or request others' (doxxing)
• Advertising and spam — promoting external websites, channels, or products
• Real-world politics and religion — controversial topics should be avoided
• Content related to self-harm or suicide — if you need help, please consult a professional

3.3 Roleplay (RP) guidelines

Thornfield Academy is a text-based RPG. Your character is a student at a British magical school. Keep in-character (IC) communication within the game world. Mark out-of-character (OOC) remarks clearly (e.g. in parentheses).

• Do not force others to adapt to your character (no godmodding/metagaming)
• Dark or violent RP content is not permitted — the game's tone is friendly and adventurous
• NPC teachers are AI-based — do not attempt to exploit or manipulate them (prompt injection, jailbreak attempts are forbidden)

4. Fair Play and Game Integrity

4.1 Cheating and exploits

• Intentional exploitation of any bug, error, or exploit is forbidden
• If you find a bug, please report it to the moderators immediately — there is no penalty for this; in fact, we will be grateful
• Use of automated scripts, bots, or macros is forbidden
• Buying or selling accounts, items, or currency for real money (RMT) is forbidden

4.2 System manipulation

Deliberate manipulation of the AI system, circumventing prompts, or misleading NPC teachers is against the rules. This includes any attempt to unlawfully gain house points, currency, items, or other advantages.

5. Moderation and Penalties

5.1 Penalty levels

5.2 Instant ban reasons

The following result in an immediate, permanent ban without warning:

• Registration by a minor (under 18)
• Content that raises child protection concerns
• Serious hate speech or threats
• Doxxing (publishing others' personal information)
• Deliberate, large-scale exploit use to manipulate the economy
• Hacking, reverse engineering, exploiting system security vulnerabilities

5.3 Appeals

If you believe your penalty was unjust, you may appeal via the Contact page. Appeals must be submitted within 7 days. The decision is reviewed by administrators and is final.

6. Data Protection and Security

6.1 Personal data protection

In the game never share your real name, address, phone number, social media profile, or any other personal information. In chat, communicate only under your character's name.

6.2 Password security

• Use a strong, unique password (minimum 8 characters, a mix of letters and numbers)
• Never share your password with anyone — not even moderators
• Thornfield staff will never ask for your password

6.3 Content and data management

Text written in the game (chat messages, RP interactions) is stored by the system for game operation. Deleting your account also deletes your data.

7. Intellectual Property

Thornfield Academy is an independent, original world. The game's content, texts, graphics, and systems are protected by copyright. Copying, reusing, or distributing content without permission is prohibited.

The game is not affiliated with Harry Potter, J.K. Rowling, Warner Bros., or any other intellectual property. Any similarity arises from the genre.

8. Rule Amendments

Thornfield Academy reserves the right to amend these rules at any time without prior notice. You will be informed of changes through in-game announcements. Continued use of the game constitutes acceptance of the amended rules.

9. Acceptance

By registering and entering the game you declare that:

• You have reached the age of 18
• You have read and understood these rules
• You accept and will comply with the above rules
• You acknowledge that rule violations may result in suspension or a ban
